Every provider faces the annual winter dilemmas around gift giving.  This topic is very timely as providers around the country struggle with what gifts to allow for Hanukkah, Christmas, Winter Solstice, Kwanzaa, and the New Year, as well as birthdays.  For some parents giving gifts is part of a personal love language.  It is an important part of sustaining a bond with the child.  For other parents gifts are about power and control, manipulation, stalking or competition.  Some families may rely on the gifts coming from the visiting parent and others are re-traumatized or injured by the things being sent.  Join us for the 90 minute webinar where we will share tips and tools for sorting through the dilemma of gift policy and implementation.  Karen Oehme from the Florida State University of Social Work, Director of the Institute for Family Violence Studies will help guide the discussion around developing policy and practice that allows for safety and connection.
