As individuals and organizations whose utmost concern is for the well-being and safety of the children and families we serve we know that now, more than ever, it is important for us to all come together and support one another through this unprecedented time.  We have been humbled by all of the messages of support we’ve received from our members, the care and support you’ve provided to one another and your unwavering commitment to do what you can to continue to serve families during this public health emergency.

We appreciate your patience as we have worked through options for our annual conference and we regret to inform our members that we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 conference scheduled in Newport Beach, California.  Given the uncertainty of the ongoing pandemic situation and not knowing when travel and gathering bans will be lifted we have decided that postponing the conference is not a prudent decision at this time.

Conference revenue is a major source of SVN operating funds.  Cancellation of the conference, along with the cancellation of upcoming in-person trainings, poses a threat to our ability to continue to operate during this critical time.  We are attempting to find balance and minimize the negative results that cancelling the conference will have on our operating budget.  Consequently, paid registration fees for the 2020 conference may be transferred to the 2021 conference or towards any of SVN’s trainings.  This is also transferable to anyone in your agency or any individual you so designate.  Alternatively, conference registration fees may also be designated as tax-deductible contributions.  Please email us at [email protected] to make this designation and support SVN’s ongoing work in assisting our members and the families we serve as they face these extraordinary challenges.

We are deeply and truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.  We look forward to being able to continue to further the mission of SVN to educate, advocate and collaborate with all of our members in new and innovative ways as they provide these invaluable services to families in these unprecedented times.

With wishes for continued health for you and your families,

SVN Associate Director, Jennifer Garst and the SVN Board of Directors.
